Letizia Le Fur

Photography

Letizia Le Fur graduated from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France in 1998 and first trained as a painter. With the encouragement of artist and teacher Valérie Belin, she soon turned her aesthetic quest to photography.

Her work centers on the depiction of beauty and the representation of a fantasized otherworld. Letizia Le Fur’s attention to color is very particular; like a painter, she mixes colors on her palette, isolates and transforms, corrects, adds, exalts the tones, amplifies them to transcend reality and creates this sensation of unreal world.

Nominated for the Niepce Prize (2022), winner of the Leica/Alpine Prize (2018), the BNF's Grande Commande Photographique (2022) as well as the “Fenêtres Ouvertes Prize” organized by the MEP (2020), she was also resident for the Planches Contact festival in Deauville (2020), and the InCadaques festival (2021).

In parallel to her artistic work, Letizia Le Fur collaborates with advertising, press (AD, New York Times, Milk …)

She published Mythologies - Chap. I & II  in 2021 and Mythologies - Chap. III in 2022 with Editions Rue du Bouquet.

She is also a Leica ambassador since 2019, and has recently showed her solo exhibition at the French Institute in Madrid.

Festival "Portrait(s)" de Vichy

The 11th edition of the Festival de Vichy takes place from June 23 to October 1, 2023. In a tender, quirky production, Letizia Le Fur honors the city's active seniors, exploring the theme of the "Vichy tile".

Mythologies - Chap. I & II

mythologies-chap-i-ii-63b459698a274

… " Long a reader of the Classics, Letizia Le Fur knows how imagination can make us more aware of reality. She takes a prominent contemporary theme and links it to mythology. Holding a mirror up to us, she shows us the almost unbearable image of all that we have lost along the way. And while we must always affirm that photography is a means of documentation, in this instance it simply and humbly documents life. Nowadays, facing the destruction of our planet, we shout and flail our arms like string puppets. Unlike many of her contemporaries who are almost obsessional about facts, through a single fictional pirouette Letizia Le Fur reminds us with light and elegant brushstrokes that every myth brings us back to humanity’s history. And so, like Quetzalcoatl biting his own tail, the present leads us back to mythology and mythology leads us back to the present. "
