Born in 1980 in Washington DC, she works in New York. A graduate of Yale University, with a Master's of Fine Arts in Advanced Photographic Studies at Bard College NY, Hannah Whitaker develops her aesthetic with objects and humans through a straight photography approach and solid knowledge of light and image construction. Whether through multiple exposures on film or digital camera, her photographs play with patterns, geometry, and silhouettes. Her work has been exhibited in the US and France, and was nominated for the Prix Découvertes at les Rencontres d‘Arles 2012 and Foam Talent in 2014. She is also represented by the Galerie Christophe Gaillard, where she had a solo exhibition and presentation at Paris Photo in 2021. She regularly collaborates with luxury brands and magazines like The New York Times, in addition to special projects with companies and labels.
