Nick & Chloé
Photography & Films
Franco-Irish duo composed of an artistic director and a photographer, initially noticed for bringing a unique vision to the kids and adolescents photography, Nick and Chloé then explored the strangeness of an adult world and there mix a prolific imagination. Their images, rich in details, invite us to observe everything: staging and sense of the character in space served by a color work of great finesse form a style specific to the duo, dreamlike storyteller and player. Exhibited in 2019 at the Magasins Généraux for the "Futures of Love" exhibition, they also make personal and advertising films.

THE SLOWSET MANIFESTO
The Slowdance is nearing extinction. We must act with urgency!
Here is our call to arms to nurture and revive that classic courting ritual.
The contemporary dance and music world have turned their back on this mystical, awkward but pragmatic way to encounter the “object of your desire”!
How many of our parents met on a dancefloor? How many movies share this
nostalgia? These days we are “too cool for school”, our gaze fixed downwards on clever phones and screens missing the human life in our proximity.
We all need a little push of encouragement to get up from our chair and ask bravely to that guy or that girl over there, to dance with us.
We went back to Berlin, renowned for its techno, mono dancing scene.
We cast teenagers to come along to our neo futuristic set which acted as a kind of “quarantine zone” where they could practise the art of the Slowdance without ridicule.
DJ’s! Play the Slowset to save the planet!
Sam Tiba, the artist and French producer composed this dystopian track to guide their dance steps.
Are we hard yet ? w/ Zeitguised
Nick&Chloe and ZEITGUISED in a dalliance with erotics, exploring the function of this very intentional form of photography to wreak havoc on our appetites and desires.
After realising the mutually assumed superiority of the other side, Nick&Chloe and Zeitguised embraced that idea and turned the collaboration mode into "Nick&Chloe vs. Zeitguised", with mutually assured destruction.
One goal of the exercise is to deconstruct the hierarchies that are cast with the order in which the elements of the photographic images are made. Traditionally the sequence follows: World>model>fashion>lighting>photography>postproduction, with a diminishing role in the production of meaning of the image from beginning to end. This project attempts to create new meanings with every new order of "remixing" the original image, without completely erasing the original meaning, but rather playing and commenting on it through added layers.
The other goal is to playfully twist the language of erotic imagery into absurdity by its own seductive means, without collapsing the celebration of the senses.
The title, besides the obvious, also winks an eye at the artists showing off a harder edge in their work, and solidifying soft shapes into hard material forms.
