Marguerite Bornhauser is a photographer based in Paris. After studying literature and journalism, she joined the &Eacute;cole Nationale Sup&eacute;rieure de la Photographie in Arles, where she graduated. Since her first personal institutional exhibition held at the Maison Europ&eacute;enne de la photographie (MEP) in 2019, her work has been exhibited in different museums, galleries and festivals worldwide. In 2020, she won the Photo London's Emerging Photographer of the Year Award. In 2021, the Grand Palais gave her a carte blanche to look at the renovation site for the next four years, which will be the subject of a book as well as an exhibition. In 2022 she was nominated as guest of honor for Paris Photo. She published various books : 'Plastic Colors' (2017), '8', and 'Red Harvest' by Poursuite Editions (2019), and 'When Black is burned' (2023) with Simple Editions. In 2024, Marguerite's work has been shown in Arco (Lisbonne and Madrid), at the Galerie Porte B., the MEP and the Galerie Sinople in Paris. She was part of Les Rencontres d'Arles in July at the Arles Antique Musuem, with her residency with INRAP. Besides her institutional practice, she regularly collaborates for medias and brands for portraits and fashion photography.

Luna Ikuta is an artist and designer whose work draws from biology, material science, and media. Operating within multidisciplinary fields, her diverse portfolio emerges from alchemical processes, experimenting with both organic and industrial mediums. This includes underwater transparent botanical landscapes, laser-etched crystal monuments, immersive digital projections, and conceptual blockchain projects. Ikuta's works dive into the conditioning of our senses through material experimentation, and her installations address intangible themes, such as memory, identity, and evolution. Born in Tokyo and currently based in Los Angeles, she earned her BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her sculptural works have been commissioned for permanent art installations and on multiple occasions Ikuta has presented site specific projects at institutions, transforming spaces into ethereal environments of ghostly underwater landscapes. Growing up in a family of sculptors, Elissa Castelbou-Loiret began her studies at &Eacute;cole Boulle in Paris before turning to scenography at La Sorbonne, where she developed her creative multiple horizons. She discovered the fashion industry when she started working for ELLE Magazine, where she contributed as a fashion editor during thirteen years collaborating with top photographers like Steve Hiett, Matt Jones, Max Vadukul, Jan Welters, David Burton, Marcin Tyszka, Ben Watts, Alex Cayley, Kayt Jones, Laura Sciacovelli, Simon Burstall... Elissa is today a freelance stylist and consultant for brands like Veronique Leroy and Minelli, and magazines such as MILK and Grazia. Among her regular collaborations, La Redoute and Birkenstock. Elissa's talent lies in the ability to bring to any collections' creation her artistic, cinematographic and musical references, because fashion is an art for itself. She also co-founded 'Hayd&eacute;e', an art gallery and publishing house in collaboration with Olivia Fr&eacute;mineau.&nbsp;

 In 2015, Joseph Ghosn appointed her as fashion deputy editor-in-chief at GRAZIA. When Black Is Burned is a series between reality and fiction, poetry and everyday life, that plays with the codes of abstraction and photographic figuration to plunge us into a brightly colored chiaroscuro universe, populated by shadows, ghosts and daydreams. This work is made of light and dense matter, where shadows create landscapes and patterns. The burnt black of the shadows resonates with the intensity of the colors and the sensuality of the bodies. In this series, we present for the first time reworked negative photographs &ndash; painted or colored &ndash; alongside silver and digital photographs of all kinds.
The book is accompanied by an original text by Damarice Amao, an art historian currently working at the Centre Pompidou-Paris.
